Univision Hosts Affordable Care Act Town Hall Meeting

HOUSTON, TX – SEPTEMBER 16, 2013 – KXLN Univision 45 will host its first Affordable Care Act Town Hall meeting on Thursday, September 19, beginning at 6 p.m., in the AAMA (Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans) auditorium, located at 6001 Gulf Freeway, Building E. The town hall meeting will be in Spanish and open to the public.

 

The town hall meeting will cover the basics about the Affordable Care Act including: what it is, why it is important, and the requirements for qualification. With the health insurance marketplace set to begin on October 1st, the panelists will also inform attendees about health insurance open enrollment and an overview of the health care options.

 

“KXLN Univision 45 is committed to informing viewers about important information that will help them improve their everyday lives,” said David Loving, senior vice president and general manager of KXLN Univision 45 and KFTH UniMás 67 Houston.  “Through this town hall meeting, families will not only be informed about the Affordable Care Act but will also be ready to take action if it applies to them.”

 

The organizations providing the panel of experts include: the Children’s Defense Fund, University of Texas-Health Science Center Houston, Enroll America and Community Health Choice.

 

The town hall meeting will be moderated by Michelle Galván, news anchor/reporter with Noticias Univision 45, and Renzo Heredia, Community Affairs director and on-air personality with Univision Radio Houston.

 

Following the town hall meeting, those in attendance will have the opportunity to learn more about the participating organizations at information booths. AAMA, Univision Farmacia and Change Happens! (an official “Navigator” organization) will also have information booths at the event.
