The Illumine Celebration/Celebración de Iluminación benefiting AAMA (the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans) will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at George R. Brown Convention Center. Proceeds will go towards AAMA’s programs, George I. Sanchez Charter Schools, Prevention & Counseling, Adelante Adult Education, and Work & Learn Center.

AAMA serves 10,000 people each year, including nearly 900 students at two Sanchez charter schools, individuals who are recovering from substance use disorders, and those who participate in our adult classes for workforce development and career pathways. These efforts are possible due to the generous support of the Houston community.

Alexandria Hernández and Leandra Hernández are serving as Co-Chairs for AAMA’s Illumine Celebration/Celebración de Iluminación. Alexandria is a human resource professional with Luby’s Fuddruckers Restaurants, LLC and is passionate about serving the Houston community through volunteerism. Leandra is an Assistant Professor of Communication Studies at Utah Valley University and past Chair for NCA La Raza Caucus. Both born-and-raised in Houston, they are excited to serve the community, carry on their parents’ legacies, and ensure that AAMA continues to be successful in the years to come. Read More
