The Dollar General Literacy Foundation has awarded AAMA a $10,000 grant to support Adelante’s adult literacy program. This grant award is part of more than $8.3 million in grants awarded to over 1,000 schools, nonprofits and organizations across the 44 states that Dollar General serves.

Through AAMA’s adult literacy program, Adelante, adult learners are able to move forward to better opportunities for themselves and their families. The courses help students reach a higher level of education by learning to communicate in English and completing certificate programs. Each year, more than 1,200 adults learn through AAMA’s Adelante classes, and approximately 200 students receive the GED certificate in graduation ceremonies. The Dollar General Literacy Foundation Grant will fund Adelante’s Adult Education program. Funds will be used to provide class sessions.
