Only in their 3rd year of play, Sanchez students roared forward into the playoffs with both Girls and Boys teams having an excellent season.  The Girls team reached the Final Four before losing a 1-0 heartbreaker to Yes Prep.

The Boys team defeated Eastwood Academy 6-0 in the Semi-finals and faced Yes Prep in the Championship Game.  After a scoreless half, Sanchez came out on fire and scored an early goal.  Two subsequent goals completed the scoring to make it a 3-0 game.

Mr. Moreno commented on the last two goals noting: "the teamwork was amazing as a complicated play was beautifully set-up.  The ball came down the right-side on a break; Diego Hernandez sent it to Alirio Perez in the middle, before being sent to Jose Luis Hernandez zipping down the left side.  He instantly struck the ball from about 20 yards out - it was a bullet that hit the net, before the Yes group knew what hit them."  This is the first ever Championship trophy won by a Sanchez soccer team.  Many thanks go to Edgar Villegas, volunteer coach and Sean Haardt, GIS faculty.
