The Illumine Celebration/Celebración de Iluminación benefiting AAMA (the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans) will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at George R. Brown Convention Center. Proceeds will go towards AAMA’s programs, George I. Sanchez Charter Schools, Prevention & Counseling, Adelante Adult Education, and Work & Learn Center.

Christian Navarro is a lawyer, restaurant owner, and community philanthropist. Christian has embraced the legacy of his mother, the namesake of the Yolanda Black Navarro Middle School and the Yolanda Black Navarro Buffalo Bend Nature Park, and has set on a path of community engagement motivated by the memories of his late parents. Christian is the president of the Houston “Shoes for Kids” charity, is a board member of AAMA, the Gus Wortham Park & Golf Course Steering Committee, and the Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council. His law practice focuses on federal criminal matters and is active in the Criminal Justice Act Panel for the Houston Galveston courts of the Southern District of Texas. Christian’s restaurant, Villa Arcos, is a top 100 Houston restaurant by the Houston Chronicle’s two-time James Beard Award winner, Alison Cook. Christian and his wife Jill have two daughters. Christian attended the University of Texas School of Law, the University of New Mexico, and Houston’s St. Thomas High School.

Sofia Adrogué , an Argentina native, is a trial partner (25 plus years) at Diamond McCarthy LLP, representing clients in industries ranging from Texas entrepreneurs to multinational conglomerates. She is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Owner/President Management Program, and, on full academic scholarships, the University of Houston Law Center, magna cum laude, and Rice University, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa. She is a frequent CLE Speaker & Chair (over 125) and publisher (over 120). A Texas Super Lawyer (TEXAS MONTHLY Magazine), she’s been honored with numerous recognitions including U.S. 25 Most Influential Hispanic Lawyers, U.S. Most Powerful Woman in Law (LATINO LEADERS Magazine), as well as Outstanding American, Texan & Houstonian (U.S., Texas & Houston Jaycees). Sofia is a Co-Host & Co-Producer of LATINA VOICES: SMART TALK. Sofia has been recognized for her public service by the City of Houston with December 18, 2018, proclaimed as “Sofia Adrogué Day.” Sofia is the mother of Sloane, Schuyler, and Stefan, and is married to fellow Rice graduate, Sten Gustafson.
