Starbucks Opportunity Youth Grant

Participants in the Career Pathway Program

AAMA was a recipient of the Starbucks Opportunity Youth grant 2016. Our Career Navigator works with 16-24 years old students from the community who have HS or GED Diploma and want a better future. The goal of this project is to prepare our participants to enter into a career pathway that will allow them to better job paying, earn a certification, or apply for college degree that is right for them.
During these 8 weeks participants will acquire knowledge and skills in the following areas:

  • Goal Setting
  • Skills and interest assessments to identify the right career pathway.
  • Learn the key skills and habits of an ideal job candidate and how to become a valued employee. For example, resume writing, and interview skills.
  • Research the various certifications and opportunities offered at local colleges.
  • Find trainings to improve their hard skills. For example, computer, English, Math classes, etc.
