Notice to Parents and Community Members
Access to School Property and Conduct Expectations
Dear Sanchez Community:
At George I. Sanchez Charter Schools, we are deeply committed to providing a safe, respectful, and focused learning environment where every student can thrive. We value the strong partnership we share with our parents, families, and community members, and we appreciate the support you provide every day.
To help maintain this positive atmosphere, Texas Education Code § 37.105 authorizes school administrators, school resource officers, or school district peace officers to refuse entry or eject any person from school property (including campuses, grounds, and facilities) under specific circumstances. This action may be taken if the individual:
- Poses a substantial risk of harm to any person, or
- Behaves in a manner that is inappropriate for a school setting.
In the case of inappropriate behavior, a verbal warning will first be given, and the person must cease the behavior. If the behavior continues, refusal of entry or ejection may occur. (Please note: No verbal warning is required for referees, judges, or officials at extracurricular athletic events or competitions sponsored by the District or the University Interscholastic League, per Texas Senate Bill 2929 (2025). Ejections at these events are final and non-appealable.)
Examples of disruptive conduct that may lead to these measures (per Texas Education Code § 37.124) include:
- Emitting noise that prevents or hinders classroom instruction;
- Attempting to entice a student away from a required class or activity;
- Preventing a student from attending a required class or activity; and/or
- Entering a classroom without consent and disrupting activities through misconduct or loud/profane language.
Continued presence on school property after such notice may result in arrest and prosecution for criminal trespass under Texas Penal Code § 30.05 (a Class B misdemeanor).
Thank you for partnering with us in creating one of the safest schools in the State of Texas.
For our Children,
Dr. Adolfo Melara, CEO, President, and Superintendent
