AAMA Announces 2018 Illumine Gala Tribute

Houston, TX – 7/02/2018 – The 2018 Illumine Gala benefitting (AAMA) the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans will be held Friday, October 19, 2018 from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the Hilton Houston Post Oak (2001 Post Oak Blvd). The program will recognize posthumously beloved friend and AAMA board member, Raul Dominguez.

Raul Dominguez was on the Board of Directors for AAMA from 2000-2017, as well as the Boy Scouts and Catholic Charities. In addition to his volunteer service, he was a parishioner of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, YMCA, UT Alumni and Northgate Country Club. Raul had a joy for life and passion for family, work and community, generously giving of his time and talents.  He passed away at 59 years on January 26, 2017.

Last year, the Illumine Gala honored Yolanda Black Navarro, one fo the five founders, more than $250,000 was raised to further AAMA’s work of empowering individuals to realize their full potential. This year AAMA’s goal is to raise $350,000 to create a better future for students and families in our community. AAMA serves 13,000 people each year, including nearly 900 students at two Sanchez charter schools, individuals who seek to recover from addictions, and those who participate in our adult classes for workforce development and career pathways. These efforts are possible due to the support of the Houston community.
