Request for Public Comment on Federal Grant Applications

In accordance with federal regulations, an entity planning to submit a federal grant application must afford a reasonable opportunity for public comment on the application before it is submitted to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for approval. The following are the federal grants George I Sanchez Charter School will submit for approval for the 2021-2022 school year. Texas COVID Learning Acceleration Supports (TCLAS) is a set of targeted supports available to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) to accelerate student learning in the wake of COVID 19 utilizing funds from the state discretionary ESSER III allocation and general revenue appropriated in the 87th Texas Legislature. (Amount awarded $815,500 Direct Funds; $232,000 In-Kind) *Comments due by September 30, 2021*

Title I, Part A provides supplemental resources to help schools with high concentrations of students from low-income families acquire the knowledge and skills in the state content standards and to meet the state student performance standards. (Amount awarded: $516,399) *Comments due by July 11, 2021*

Title I, 1003 – School Improvement Grant provides funds to school districts applying on behalf of their comprehensive schools that are supplemental to the Title I, Part A funds. These funds must only be used to support district and school- level school improvement efforts to directly benefit these schools. (Amount Awarded: $28,570) *Comments due by July 11, 2021*

 

Title II, Part A is to increase student achievement through improving teacher and principal quality and increasing the number of highly qualified teachers in classrooms and highly qualified principals in schools. (Amount Awarded: $51,796) *Comments due by July 11, 2021*

Title III, Part A ELA is to develop programs for limited English proficient students to attain English proficiency, develop high levels of academic attainment, and meet the state content standards and student achievement standards. (Amount Awarded: $48,172) *Comments due by July 11, 2021*

Title IV, Part A – SSAEP is to improve students’ academic achievement by providing all students with access to a well-rounded education; improve school conditions for student learning; and improve the use of technology. (Amount Awarded: $38,017) *Comments due by July 11, 2021*

Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Grants: CRRSA ESSER II provides funding to prevent, prepare for, and respond to the coronavirus. ARP Act, ESSER III assists school districts safely reopen and sustain the safe operation of schools and address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on students through evidence-based interventions, after-school and summer enrichment programs. (Amount Awarded: ESSER II: $1,749,722; ESSER III: $3,929,628) *Comments due by July 11, 2021*
